Telephone Piece, masonite board, metal ties, pink chair, steel, audio, 6’49”, 2019
In this work I map my relationship to forms of communication where the material quality of language appears particularly evident. Through the use of anecdotes and stories, and the recollection of specific images and memories, I relate my ability to communicate to physical structures such as the landline telephone. Focusing on language as a tool of proximity and distance, I explore experiences of communication that fail and connections that are missed, lost or forgotten.
